McD RENO

Existing dilapidated brick and tile home in suburbia with need to expand to suit growing and active family. Design direction was to design new living areas and redevelop existing areas into larger bedroom spaces for growing teenagers and alternative living spaces. With majority of the street setback underutilised the front yard was transformed into a main outdoor active area with Pool and Alfresco. The new extension to the western boundary was positioned to maximise this new external space and push the building structure as forward to the street boundary. With a large roof profile creating a large ceiling volume, split levels and large glazed area created a sense of space to the living areas with the additional focus on ambient light in lieu of direct northern sun light. A modern double gable roof with dominate colours contrast against the existing simple roof and building forms.
