XIII HOUSE
A squared shaped lot with cross falls to the natural ground levels created a unique scenario of a spilt level home that then defined a series of folding shapes and angles into a contemporary façade. Bold lines and forms with heavy dominating contrasts a are common theme to the exterior and interior pallet, with a mix of dark and whites balanced with concrete and large landscaped areas. The lot configuration created a difficult proposition where the rear yard would always be in shade with a south orientated zone. By balancing the need of ambient light in lieu of direct sun light the house feels open and then using large skylights to filter light into the middle of the home.
